Packaging Design

Limited edition packaging design for a charity bottling of cask aged rum. Designed to mark 40 years since the establishment of Nith Inshore Rescue, a charity lifeboat association that patrols the Solway Firth in Dumfries & Galloway. 100 bottles were produced, with the profits from all going direct to the charity. The Solway firth is an area of water that requires knowledge and skill to navigate. It consists of a network of sand banks and arteries of water that make it very challenging to work in as a lifeboat crew. The positive of this, is that from above this network of waterways creates a striking image. To create an iconic bottling for Nith Inshore rescue, an illustration was created that depicts the Solway Firth and screenprinted onto a limited number of bottles. The first 5 bottles were packaged in a handmade wooden case made from local driftwood and laser engraved with the illustration. Wax dipped and packed by hand, every bottle came with a tag and certificate as explaining the story and concept behind this limited edition design.
